When I was little, there used to be a radio and cassette player that I loved. I would close the door in my room and play music loudly and I would jump around dancing and singing along to my favorite songs. (I can’t dance I know😅😏). During these “me” times, I will be so occupied with the dancing and music and the noise that I will not hear my mom or dad or anyone calling me and I missed very nice goodies, (like some kebab or some chicken or something😑.)
When I started this thing with God, I wasn’t seeking to hear from God because then again, I thought God is God and why on earth would He want to speak to me? And how would I know this is God Speaking to me. What I didn’t realize was that God had wanted to Talk to me and that’s the main reason why He sent His son to die, so that we will be able to commune with Him. He talking to me and me talking to Him was the main idea: ourthing.
Mostly, we talk to God and we forget to hear from Him or we don’t know that we can hear from Him or we are so busy listening to other things and so we don’t hear from Him just as I wasn’t hearing my parents with the loud music playing and like little Samuel who mistook God’s voice for Eli’s. (1st Samuel 3:1-10)
I know you will be asking this same question I asked, that how do I know this is God? Well we hear from God through His Word. And the voice of the Lord is the Word of the Lord. Any other voice that does not tally with what the Word of God says is not God.
God wants all His children to hear from Him themselves and not only from other people. He wants us to know Him for ourselves and he sooo wants to talk to us if only we will seek to hear from Him and be still. Its only when we are still that we will know He is God.(Psalm 46:10)
God is speaking…Can You Hear Him?
Frances Ridley Havergal (1836-1879)
Speak to me by name, O Master, |
Master, speak! Thy servant heareth, Waiting for Thy gracious word, Longing for Thy voice that cheereth Master, let it now be heard. I am list’ning, Lord, for Thee; What hast Thou to say to me? |
